Our week and weekend...

This week we had VBS.  Maeta has been looking forward to VBS since Soren went last Summer.  She had to wait until she was three to go and she was sooooooooo excited about it.  A little bit about Maeta is, she gets really really really excited about things and then the pressure of it makes her a little uncomfortable and she would rather just be done with it!!!  She is a homebody at the moment and loves being with mama and at home.  But she did great at this.  She never fought me about going and had a pretty good time, but was very thankful to be done after Friday!!!  Selah and I enjoyed doing errands most days while the kids were there.  I never just have Selah, so we had a good time together!
Wednesday we took the day off from VBS because Soren had t-ball and Chelsea spent the entire day with us!!!  My children adore Chelsea and Sangam and were thrilled to see Chels!  She gives them so much attention and helps me out so much!  What a wonderful friend you are Chelsea!  Here she is helping them with their handwriting and math!
We saw all the Opsahl cousins on Saturday.  Selah and Ruthann were having a lot of fun jumping in the crib!
Soren's first time holding a frog!
 The middles!
Just a bonus picture of my kids all in white on Sunday!
Today it was Grandpa Dennis's birthday so we spent the afternoon swimming with the Williams.  Here are the boys playing with monster trucks!

 Selah and cute little Ava!!!
 The girls!
 What a wonderfully blessed week!

My first born

Soren, you have grown-up this year.  Something happened when you turned 5 that made you seem so much older.  You went from a little boy to a sweet kid!  I am blown away at everything you are learning right now.  You learned how to ride your bike without training wheels, swim without floaties, read, play sports (right now you are in t-ball), and you can even carry Selah around and be very helpful to me with her.  The questions you ask stump me often and I have to do some research for the answers!
Maeta absolutely adores you.  You are such a wonderful leader to both Mae and Say.  You and dad have been going on lots of man-dates, rock-climbing.  You both love to get out together!!!!  You guys also just discovered the skate park by our house.  You ride your scooter and dad skateboards!  You LOVE it!
Here is a picture of you when you first learned how to ride your bike without training wheels about a month ago!
You were so proud of yourself!!!
You would bike every minute of every day if you could!
Or swim every minute you weren't biking.  You are a fish this Summer!  You love wearing goggles and diving for rings.  Today you picked up 6 rings in one dive!!!
You are in t-ball and I think it is so cute watching you play.
Most of all, I love watching you with your sisters.  You have the kindest heart and I praise God for making you so tenderhearted!  You tell Maeta she is so funny just about everyday and you spend your day laughing at her!  I love you so much and we are all so blessed by you!

Wordless Wednesday

Butterfly Unit

This Summer we have been working on Math, Reading, Handwriting and Science.  I wanted to get a little head start on some subjects as we head into our first year of homeschooling!!!  Our first Science Unit was Butterflies.  We checkout just about every caterpillar and Butterfly book from the library.  Went on many nature hikes, created art projects, and ordered caterpillars in the mail (I know, very weird that you can actually order caterpillars with food through the mail) and took care of them until they were butterflies.  The kids had so much fun through this unit!
Here they are when we first got our Butterfly habitat and the caterpillars in the mail!
These were our five friends: fatty, curvy, sticky, John, and upslide-downey.
After a few weeks the caterpillars turned into cocoons.  The kids loved watching them!  Then after another week they came out as butterflies.  We fed them watermelon, flowers, and sugar water for a week before letting them go!
 The kids loved it!

Father's Day 2013

"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love...He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities...As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him...But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children...Bless the Lord, O my soul!"  Psalm 103

Praising my Heavenly Father today on this Father's Day.  What an amazing Heavenly Father I have.  He IS:

I am beyond blessed by knowing my Father's love for me.  Thanking Him today for giving me an earthly dad who loves the Lord with all his heart.  Because my earthly dad loved the Lord I see the qualities above in my dad.  By God's grace, my dad models my Heavenly Father's love.  Thank you dad.  And now I get to see the Lord working in my children's dad.  Dustin, I am so thankful for your heart.  Thankful that you love the Lord.  Thankful that God gives you strength to lead our children to know our Heavenly Father's love for them.  You are a wonderful daddy.

We had a wonderful day.  We got to see all the dad's in our lives today: Dustin, my dad, Dustin's dad, my Grandpa, Drew, Luke, and Nick.  We are blessed by them all.

Here are some pictures of the dad's in our lives...
