Nana's here day 4

This morning we woke up went to church and then headed to Dustin's work to let my mom see it. The kids had a lot of fun playing and showing Nana all the toys...
We came home and had ice cream to cool us down before nap time...
After nap we went swimming and then got ready and headed down to Myrtle beach. There are Christian concerts every Sunday night right on the Boardwalk so we were excited to go check it out and hit up Mini golfing on the way home. As we were driving there it started to rain. We made it all the way downtown Myrtle to find the stage totally empty. So we went out to dinner instead...
After dinner we drove by all the mini golf places and they were all closed. So we just came home to play instead!

Nana's here day 3

We woke up early yesterday (Sat.) to head to Surf City/Topsail beach. This is the beach is where we went to the beach house over Easter and loved it. Here we are crammed into the van, surf board and all, making my mom sit in the back on a beach chair!
We had a great time swimming and playing in the sand but it was 103 degrees out with little breeze so we didn't make it more than a few hours.
After we came home and read our 2nd book of the Hunger Games trilogy in the air conditioning we went for a swim in the pool. It was fun because our neighbor friends were there for my mom to meet.
We had sushi for dinner. My mom actually liked it!
After the kids went to bed early, my mom and I walked up to the grocery store to get a movie!
Again another wonderful day!

Nana's here day 2

We had another great, fun-fulled day with my mom here. We enjoyed a quiet morning while we waited for Maeta to get up before heading to our local beach for the morning. Here is Nana and Soren enjoying themselves...
And little miss Mae...
We came home and played in the pool for a while. A couple of our friends were in the pool too so it was fun to introduce them to my mom...
After we played inside for about an hour we headed back to the pool before getting ready to go out for dinner...
We ate at a fun resturant right on the intercoastal...
After dinner we dropped Dustin and the kids off at the house for bed and headed back down to the beach for a concert and a night time beach walk...
It was wonderful!
(I might skip D.L. for the time my mom is here because I will post about our days!)

July 28: Happy 5 year anniversary honey. I love you!

Nana's here day 1

Ohhhhh, it feels so good having my mom here. She just told me that when her and Soren were alone and holding hands he looked up at her and said, "Nana, I just miss you so bad." And Maeta just keeps jabbering, "Hey Nanie, Nanie, Nanie!" It feels so right being together and it is a lot of fun showing her our life down here. Here was our day today...

I wonderful reunion at the airport. Soren and Maeta waited so excitedly for Nana to walk around the corner and ran into her arms when she got here...
We then hit up Chick-Fil-A for lunch...
Showed her around Wilmington a bit. Stopped at a few outdoor shops...
And then headed to the beach...
Both my mom and I went swimming right when we got there because it was 101 out. Here's my mom...
After we came home and the kids showed her all around the house Nana brought gifts...
We went swimming in our pool...
Ate dinner and played a board game...
Went for a walk (sorry it is blurry but so cute that he wanted to hold her hand while biking)...
And sat outside for a little bit...
We are so thankful for this time together!!!

Lately...

I apologize for what a terrible blogger I have been lately. I don't know why I have been lacking motivation, but it might be because I am not use to this crazy heat for such an extended amount of time, we have stayed indoors for the majority of our days lately. I kind of feel like it is winter because we are inside so much! But today we did enjoy an amazing rainy day after being in a big drought and maybe that is what helped inspire me to blog tonight, I don't know! The kids and I were dancing in the streets singing songs of praise to the Lord in the rain, and later the neighbors told us they were watching! I have also been pretty homesick for the last couple weeks:( I knew it would be hard on me during a MN Summer being away, because I love that time back home. All the get togethers, my siblings home from college, bike rides to Alicia's, Tami's, and Sharon's, BBQ's, missing babies Ashton and Drea... However, my mom must have noticed my downcast spirit from across the country because she booked a flight to come see us!!! We are so excited! I'm sure I will have a lot to blog about with her visit! But for now I will leave you with a few pictures of what we have been doing lately...
I tried getting a picture but the humidity was too intense and kept fogging me up...
Enjoying some playtime at daddy's air conditioned work...
Beach trips...
This is Soren's new thing. Every time I want to take a picture of him he holds his hand up like this, he thinks it is sooooooo funny...
One morning this week I took the kids to Planet Fun...
Here is it raining today. Our dancing soon took us to the street!
And of course, mattress on the floor for some gymnastics practice!

3:00 PM: Count Down till Nana comes!

Soren's point of view...

I was giving Maeta a sewing lesson this morning (meaning= she was crabby and kept crying so I tried getting her excited by making a cover for her baby's crib, and she wanted me to hold her so I picked her up while sewing). Soren asked if he could play with my camera, I said sure. He took these picture and even though they are blurry, I have no make-up or hair done, and I am in my swimming suit with a cover, I love them. I hope that Maeta will like to sew one day and I want to teach her young! Thanks Soren for catching a glimpse into our life today!

D.L.

1:00 pm: (Funny Story) We did errands in Myrtle today and on our way home Soren and I talked about stopping at Chick-Fil-A (our favorite). However I saw a Zaxbys, which I heard ranks right by Chick-Fil-A so we decided to stop. It was crazy busy, the drive through line wrapped around the whole building so we found the one spot to park left and went inside. I thought that the menu didn't look very special and couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about this place. So I ordered and went to pay and noticed that the credit card swiper had the golden arches on it. So I asked the checkout lady if they were affiliated with McDonald's? She looked at me like I was crazy and kind of laughed out, "Yeah, I guess." My payment went through and she again mumbled, "We are McDonald's!" I said, "WHAT I'm at the wrong place," and looked out the window to Zaxby's right next door. I said, "Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to order here," and left! As I was walking out I realized I had already paid and went back to collect our food and ask if I could return it. I couldn't. I laughed and told her what had happened and she said, "Yeah, Zaxby's IS really good, I never eat here!" So here we are eating our McDonald's food outside in the 90 degree heat because that was where the fun playground was!
