Soren's 3rd Birthday Party: Take 1

On Wednesday we had Soren's birthday party with the Opsahl gang. He wanted a Thomas the train party, so that is what we had. Thomas was everywhere!

When Soren woke up I had his 3rd year of life DVD going for him to watch. Every year I make a DVD of pictures to music of that year of life. He loves watching these.
Then we had birthday pancakes!
During nap I decorated for the party so it was all ready when he woke up. He was so anxious for the party to begin!!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Soren!

Soren, you are such a gift. Daddy and I have been so blessed through your life. You have captured our hearts and we love you so much. Here are some of my most treasured traits about you right now...
You love to laugh and make people laugh. This is a new goal of yours: to be funny! You ask me all the time, "was that funny mom?" You are very delighted when Maeta or other kids laughs at you!
You are such a sensitive and caring boy. You show Maeta so much tenderness and love, that it melts me. I praise God for this quality in you and pray that you will serve Him well with it.
And your imagination took off. You love pretending and playing on your own. I love sitting back and watching what you come up with! Right now you play mostly trains and Cars!

The Train Expo...

This past weekend we took the kids to the Train Expo. We thought Soren would have a blast seeing all kinds of trains and especially being able to ride on Thomas the Train! He had sooooooo much fun. I was amazed watching him in awe of all the trains. He couldn't get enough!
Here is the Thomas the Train that the kids could ride in Annie and Clarabell...
Maeta wasn't too sure about it but it took off sooner than we could grab her so she went for the ride with Soren holding onto her!
There was a place where kids could play with a bunch of set-up trains. I loved watching the
dynamics of little boys at play. Soren would ask a kid, who had 2o trains stacked together, if he
could play with one of his trains and every kid would say "NO!" But finally Soren found a train to push!
He got to do an electronic Thomas too!
Soren thought everything there was so cool and I think he could have stayed there for days and days without getting bored!!
It was the perfect outing to get us all pumped up for Soren's 3rd birthday and the theme happens to be...Thomas!!!!

"Mama said there'd be days like this"

..."there'd be days like this my mother said..."
But she never
told me that everywhere I looked
there would be some type of destruction
even on a day when I told myself I was going to keep up on the small messes throughout the day, nope she never told me that
she never told me that my my child would poop their pants 3 days in a row
and I would constantly be washing poopie pants after being potty trained for over 6 months
or that I would go 9 days out of 10 without doing my hair or wearing make-up (gasp)
or that every time I turned the corner I would find my 1 year old daughter on the highest thing she can find
that my carpet would always be spilled on
that I would mix yogurt, pureed meat, and green beans in a mug to feed my children dinner in the bathtub because "real" dinner at the table was unsuccessful
Mama, you never told me all this!

Vero Beach, Florida Trip

Our trip to Vero Beach Disney Resort was amazing. It was a perfect trip to do for our family. We feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to take our kids to chill on the beach for a week. The kids did great. Dustin and I had low expectations on how the trip would go with a 1 year old and a 2 1/2 year old, but both of them did so much better than we ever imagined. They loved the beach and played and played and played. Here is our trip through pictures...

We left our house at 4 am and made it to the gate just as they were boarding (oops cut it a little too close there!)...
When we arrived in Vero it was a bit chilly but beautiful. Soren had so much fun running in and out of the waves...
Dustin and Soren would run down and then let the wave chase them back and Soren would laugh his head off...
The next day was really cold and rainy so we played on the ocean all bundled up for a while.
Here is a very tired Maeta trying to figure everything out but really just wanting to go to bed!...
The boys played mini golf all the time. Soren even got 2 hole in ones throughout our stay!
After playing at the resort for a while we decided to go explore since it was cold out. We loved every place we went to. Dustin decided we are going to move there!!!

Monday we woke up and it was chilly again so we called up my dad's good friend Mark and asked if he could meet us at Magic Kingdom. He could so we headed to Disney World! When we got there it was hot, sunny and beautiful!
The parade was going on right when we got there so the kids got to see all the characters right away. It was not crowded at all which was really nice!
Soren loved getting to see Mickey's house and then meet Mini and Mickey!
The coolest part was the Christmas lighting of Cinderella's Castle. Magic Kingdom was all decorated with Christmas and at night they had this big show with the characters and at the end the Fairy Godmother lit the castle and it was amazing! Here is what the castle looked like before...
And here it is after...
Even at 26 years old I still thought it was really cool!
The next day we held our breath when we woke up to see if it was nice out. It was beautiful! Hot! and Perfect! The rest of the 5 days we had left we woke up in our swim suits and didn't take them off until we went to bed!

We played in the sand...
Boogie Boarded...
Look at Soren's little head in a deep hole Dustin dug, and then a wave came and covered him up!
Thankfully he climbed out and laughed so hard!
We buried dad...
Enjoyed sand all over us...
Maeta loved being right in the waves and would laugh so hard when the waves would roll back...
Before dinner...
They are two peas in a pod...
The 4 of us...
We enjoyed our 4 o'clock watermelon break there too...
Here was our Mickey shaped pool and our water slide. I was in a water slide race one day and placed 2nd (out of two people in my category)!
I adore this picture. She loves her daddy so much, just look at the way she looks at him...
This is my favorite too. He loved just walking and thinking on the beach...
Maeta woke up really early there so I would take her out to the ocean with coffee and we would watch the sun come up. It was a special time with her!
We played with sand toys more...
She jumped waves more...
The famous handstand (my family does this everywhere we go!)...
He fit the beach boy well I thought...
playing in our pool...
Enjoying my sweet boy...
Before dinner the last night...
We had the most amazing time. I praise God for special moments like these!
