After dinner, we ventured outside and met up with neighbors and their kids for some bike action/socializing along our street. There are a few kids on our street and Soren loves when they are out to play! I love getting to go out our door and see friends enjoying the last few days of summer.
After baths Soren and I got to go on a date together. Soren asked what a date was and I said it is when two people who like each other go and do something fun! He replied with, "no, I don't want to go on a date with you mom." But he did anyway! We went to a neighborhood movie night. It was so cute to see all the kids running around enjoying their last few nights of summer! Here is Soren, Mallory and Natalie waiting for the movie to start...
I got to cuddle my little date while watching the movie. I love getting to spend time with Soren...
Here are the Peltiers...
and half of the Saari clan...
We feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends right in our neighborhood. What a blessing! It was such a wonderful and successful Summer night!

Here are a few of my favorite conversations with Soren...
(While Dustin is feeding Maeta a bottle)
Soren: "Ooo I love this baby, I would like another baby just like this baby."
Soren: "I'm going to get play-doh out"
Maria: "We don't have any honey, remember we had to throw it all away after you left it out."
S: "Well lets get some at the grocery store"
M: "Maybe next time we go to the store you can get some.
S: "Yes, I will get Thomas play-doh and Percy play-doh. I am going to go right now.
M: "well we can't go now because Maeta is sleeping"
S: "Well I am going all by myself. I'm going shopping by myself."
M: "How are you going to get there?"
S: "I'm going to drive by myself."
M: "You aren't old enough to drive"
S: "Well when I am three I am going to drive all by myself to the store. I have to get Thomas and Percy play-doh, I have to get them by myself."
(Soren looking at a sunset with Dustin)
"God made that like this (moving his finger across the window), He painted it like this, God did, He did that!"
(After Soren and I were praying)
Soren: Mommy where is Jesus
Maria: He is right here
Soren: But I can't see Him
Maria: We can't see Him yet but He is right here with us
Soren: I want to hold Him
Maria: I do too, and some day when we get to Heaven we will be able to hold Him
Soren: silence... the biggest smile takes over his face!
(Today I ran pretty far in the heat while pushing the stroller and every time I stopped to walk I heard...)
"Tum-on mommy you can do it!"
(I had to start running after that encouragement!)

Dustin, along with all the men in my family went up to "paradise cabin" for a men's retreat/golf long weekend. So we began playing on Thursday. We started off by meeting some of my old teammates at the Gopher gym to visit, watch practice, and let the kids run around the gym. Soren loves gymnastics and I love how he says "gymnastics!" After naps Alicia and her kids came over for a Pizza/Movie party. Soren heard the work "party" and thought we needed candles on our pizza. So Soren, Caleb, and Lucy all got candles on their pizza while Alicia and I sang, "happy pizza party to you..." They then got pillows and blankets and popcorn while watching, "Horton Hears a Who."
This lasted about 2 minutes before they were up playing again!
On Friday we met our good friends Tami, Aubrey, and Axel for the day. Sadly I didn't get any pictures of our playing time but I did capture cousin bath time...
On Saturday an old teammate of mine got married. My mom watched Soren and Maeta and said that Soren kept wanting to feed Maeta. He would even touch her stomach and say, "Is if full yet Maeta?!" Oh I just love how these two adore each other!
Here is the only picture I got at the wedding. It is me, Laura, and Kelly. The three of us were the same year on the gopher team. We had such a great time visiting with everyone!
Whew! The kids are now napping and Dustin is on his way home! We had a great time just the three of us, but are very excited to get Dustin home!

This past weekend we were so blessed to get to enjoy my aunt and uncle's cabin with their family and my family. It is the most beautiful cabin and lake and such a treat for us to get to vacation there for the weekend.
The night before we left Maeta was up all night screaming and pulling on her ear. So Friday morning I brought her in the see the doctor and get some ear infection medicine before we left.
Maeta slept the first 1/2 hour and the last 10 min. of the entire 4 hour drive. But we hung in there and were very relieved to pull into our retreat for the weekend.
We started the weekend off with a evening swim across the lake. Here is (from left to right) my cousin Anna, Courtney (my brother's girlfriend), my mom, my sister Samantha, Samantha's friend Jamie, my sister Alicia, and me.
...and we're off. I don't think the men trusted that we could swim the whole way because they had THREE boats following us "just in case." We proved them wrong by swimming all the way there and all the way back! It was so refreshing! Upon returning, Jabez (my parent's dog) knocked Soren off the dock and into the lake. He went under and I jumped in and got him! He didn't like that too much, but later could laugh about it!
There is nothing like waking up and drinking coffee with your husband and son in a hot tub at 7:30 am. It is soooooooo beautiful up there! This is how I would start every morning if I could.
Soren loved walking around the yard and lake exploring...
He even got to go walking with his Nana and Papa...
Maeta took a good nap and enjoyed some Nana and Great Auntie Carolyn time while others played the bean bag game...
Soren and Maeta were the only kids up there. And although they missed their cousins I think they enjoyed the attention they were given by many loving aunties and uncles...
The four of us...
Here is the four of us siblings...
And one last picture of Maeta getting some loves from daddy...
Thank you Paul, Carolyn, Andrew and Anna for sharing your cabin with us. This was such a treat for us. We have many wonderful memories from our times up at the Cabin!

Maeta, you are so perfectly precious! You are my baby girl and I love life with you in it. You have such a passionate spirit that I pray you will honor the Lord with. Most of the time you are very soft spoken and you have a sweet quiet voice, but sometimes you scream and when you do you have spark and determination behind it!
You love following Soren all around and playing crawling/hiding games with him. You love kissing daddy. And you love to come and give me a hug and snuggle every couple minutes while you play. You started waving when you hear bye or hi. You love going on bike rides and swimming in the pool. In the kiddy pool you want to crawl on your own and you don't care if your face goes under. You just want to be independent. You started walking while pushing a toy and walking around furniture or while holding our hands!
Average sleeping patterns: getting up 1-2 times (although this past week has been hourly or every 2 hours)
Eating: Nursing 1-2 times/per day, bottles every couple hours (usually you will only drink 1-2 oz.), you love real food like spaghetti, lasagna, and tacos! You are not a big fan of baby food!
You try to copy sounds that we make, sing when we sing, and yell when Soren yells!
We love you so much baby girl!

We got to spend the morning with G'ma Evie. My grandma is amazing, we met her at the park and when she parks her car 5 kids ran out. She was just like a mom my age meeting at the park for a play date!!! She then followed my kids all around the playground and even played on the slide with Maeta! Then had all 5 kids plus me and my two kids over to her house to play more and see G'pa Dave. You would never know that she has 12 grand children and 4 great-grand children!
Soren tried keeping up with Cade and his buddies at the park...
Maeta joined a music group at the park...
She even played musical spoons...
We had such a great time today and I am so thankful to have grandparents that can be such a part of their great-grand children's lives!
