Mosquitoes love Soren's blood. He almost always has a couple huge welts on his body. And he really plays up how bad they itch. He often comes up to us and itches our backs too saying, "just itching your squitoe bites!" Other than getting a couple huge bites we had a great time at my parents pool. We love being with cousins...
and my cousins too...
Soren loves getting to play with Cade! Cade is such a fun playmate and so good with little kids.

Survival Mode...

Last night we had a great sewing club night. We made outfits for our kids for the 4th of July and they turned out so cute. It is so great to get away with a couple of girls and enjoy and nice quiet evening! However, it also means a late night. Which wouldn't be bad except Maeta was up the rest of the night. I totaled about 2 1/2 hours of sleep last night, hence the title of this post "survival mode!" So here is what our day looked like...
Lightening McQueen is in full force here at our house. Soren finally put all his fears aside and now pushes the petal. It only took 6 months of thinking about it first! Alicia came on her bike to pick Soren up for a date at the park and then Caleb and Lucy enjoyed McQueen too.
When it was time for them to go, Soren yells, "bye mom" and took off running along side their bike. I have no idea why! But he ran for a long long time. Alicia said she was laughing sooooo hard at him because he was so serious about his running!!
She finally brought him back with a bright red face and all he wanted was milk and more milk!
We later went for a bike ride and Maeta cried the whole time. I was so shot after I just dropped into their pool with all my clothes on. Both Maeta and Soren joined me.
I got everyone ready for bed and we were all (well three of us) sleeping by 5:30 for the night! Well at least until 6:30! I guess it was just a nap. Hopefully they won't be up until midnight now!

Happy Father's Day

I have been so blessed by the daddy that the Lord has blessed me with. My favorite things about my dad are:
He loves fun with kids. When we were young my dad played so great. He came up with the most fun games (I think I mentioned them all last year)! Now that there are small kids back in his house every weekend he is back playing all those fun games. Soren asks daily if he can go to Papa's house. Soren's favorite thing to play with Papa his airplanes! Growing up my dad gave us so much quality time everyday after work.

He loves the Lord. All growing up I always saw him in the Word, leading us in devotions, and he was always quick to ask for forgiveness when he needed it. When I started dating Dustin, Dustin joined in on our family devotion time. He learned so much from watching my dad lead us and that became the start of his faith.

He loves my mom. My dad still think my mom is a babe! They are so perfect for each other!

Love you dad, happy Father's Day!
I have been blown away at how naturally Dustin has taken to fatherhood. We had kids quickly after getting married, we were young, and Dustin has been an amazing father. He loves Soren and Maeta and they both adore him.

I admire how hands-on Dustin is as a dad. He will wake up at 4:30, work for sometimes 14 hours, come home and jump right into playing with the kids for the entire night. When he is home he is always helping out in some way and giving the kids his attention. Soren and Dustin call themselves "best buddies." And Maeta gives Dustin a look that only he gets. She just is amazed by her daddy. Thank you honey for being such an amazing dad to our kids. I love watching the three of you play and listening to all the laughing. You are so wonderful!

Sewing Club

My friend Tami started a sewing club and we had our first night last night. It was SO much fun. Exactly what I would want to be doing on a night out with girl friends.
We laughed so hard at Alicia because it was her first time sewing and she sewed both arm sleeves right together! We all made quit a few mistakes but Alicia was the funniest!
We made pillowcase dresses for our little girls. They actually turned out really cute! We did a couple of different styles of the dresses: out of pillowcases, scarves, and fabric.
And I also tried making a few bows!
I had such a great time and can't wait to go to sewing club again!

What we have been up to this week...

Painting. Soren loves to paint these days. He is really good at it and knows exactly what he wants to do with his art. He is very particular with the whole process! Clean up included!
Riding in the car with the Saari's. They didn't have a car for two days so we loaded them up and had a great time in the Fun-Mobile for those two days!
We took the kids to the Community Center to play on the indoor playground and basketball gyms. Rain Rain go away, we want to be swimming outside!
Visiting an old teammate Jenny and her adorable 7 week son Jackson. He was so precious!
And eating watermelon. Both kids LOVE watermelon. I like it because neither child ever wants to drink anything. This way they get a little water in their systems!
Today we are off to another play date! LOVE these precious days of being home with my kiddos!

Maeta is 8 Months! (A few days late)

I love 8 month olds, and Maeta I adore you! There is something great about a baby turning 8 months. They just seem so easy going and happy at this age. They can entertain themselves and love to explore! They interact and have a routine down. I love this stage. Maeta, every day you learn something new. You constantly want to be moving around and discovering the fascinating things of this world. Soren, daddy and I are having so much fun with you.

As the picture above shows, you can stand while holding onto something. You still are not pulling yourself up to a stand but today you were trying really hard to. You can stand holding onto your toy for a good couple minutes.

You are semi on the move. Not officially crawling yet, but moving some how. From a sit you move to a crawl position and rock, then spin, then sit, than go to your stomach, than roll and move around that way. You want to crawl so bad. Sometimes you yell with so much passion because you want to move so bad.
Your eyes are bright blue. Much more blue than mine. I think they are blue like your great grandma Evie's and your great grandma Maryanne's eyes. Your hair is multi colored. Dark in the front tips, blond roots, with a tint of red.
You still have no teeth. I love the gummy smile so I am in no hurry for teeth to pop up.
You have started to drink from a sippy. You love it but don't get much out of it. You still refuse to take a bottle so we are still nursing 100% of the time (besides food).
You love to eat. Sometimes you sit in your high chair for an hour eating.
You usually eat:
Breakfast: Avocado and Bananas
Lunch: A veggie or little tini pieces of turkey and cheese
Dinner: Rice cereal, 1/2 a meat, and 1/2 a veggie.
For snacks you like: puffs, graham crackers, watermelon, beans, and peppers.
Maeta we love you so much and praise God for the child you are. He truely is a Wonderful Maker!

We used bribery in trying to get Soren to go #2 on the potty. We have had a remote control helicopter sitting out in his view for about 2 months now telling him if he goes #2 he gets the helicopter. Last night as he was going to bed he said, "I want to go poopie on the potty!" So we ran to the potty and with daddy watching Soren went poopie! Hurray! He got to stay up a little bit longer and take his remote control helicopter out of the package. He was so proud of himself! Yeah for Soren!

A blessed day- June 3rd

I woke up today at 5:30 am to nurse my almost 8 month old daughter. She fell back to sleep and I climbed back into bed. I couldn't sleep. I felt an urging to get up and spend some time in the Word. I kept dismissing this urge by thinking I have only got 5 hours of sleep tonight I need more to function than that. But I believe the Holy Spirit is a strong one and kept me unable to sleep. And this I am so thankful for. I made coffee and dug into my devotions. I started 1 Peter today. And now I know that this morning was God's plan all along.

Today is what would have been the 1st birthday of our 2nd little baby. I think God knew I would need some encouragement from HIM today. How special I feel that He wanted to prepare me spiritually for today! I read, highlighted, cried, reread Chapter 1. It was so good, God is so good.

Loosing this baby has been the hardest thing I have ever been tried with on this Earth so far. But God's Word says that if it is necessary,

"you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith-more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire-may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1: 6-7.

My faith is the most precious thing to God, and He will refine me and make me ready for an inheritance in Heaven with Him.

"According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." 1 Peter 1:3-5

I love our 2nd little baby and even 1 1/2 years after loosing him/her I still miss him. But I believe in the Lord and His promises. I believe that He loves me and finds my faith to be the most important thing, and for this I am so thankful. God is so good.

Tonight Dustin, Soren, Maeta and I are going to plant a tree to remember our little one. I feel the need to have something in memory of this life. I want something that I can physically take care of and something that can physically mark that there was a life here. To some this baby may have had a short life (10 1/2 weeks) but I fell in love during that time and will carry this baby around with me forever. I love this baby just like I love Soren and Maeta.

I have a few songs that always remind me of this babe. I have songs for all my kids. If you want to download them and help us remember our little one they are really beautiful songs:

"I Will Carry You" Selah

"The Glory of it All" by David Crowder band
(This song also reminds me of my dad when he went through his heart surgery. That was a few months before our miscarriage and the song just really reminds me a lot of God's goodness and nearness during both of these trials.)

Bedside conversations...

Dustin: "Did you find regular McQueen or did you try to trick him with a different one" (asked after Soren was in bed and asked us to bring regular McQueen and King into him)

Me: "Oh I found regular McQueen, he would totally know if I gave him a different one"

Dustin: "Ya, last night I tried to give him dirty McQueen and he felt it for a while (it was dark in his room) and figured out that I tricked him"

Me: "Oh he knows what they all feel like. Regular McQueen has more shaky wheels than the rest"

D: "I bet he wouldn't be able to tell the difference if we gave him Dinaco McQueen."

M: "Oh ya, I bet your right, because they have the exact same wheels"

D: "Ya they spin really well"

M: "I don't know if he would be able to tell the difference with white wheel McQueen either?"

D: "Oh my goodness, have you been listening to what we have been talking about in bed for the past couple minutes"

Then we both burst out laughing at ourselves!!! Oh the joys of parenthood. It is funny how you actually get into their little world of imagination!
