I melt daily at watching the two of you love on each other. Maeta you light up at the sight of Soren, and Soren you adore your baby sister and tend to her every peep.
When you have 1 child you can't believe the amount of love you feel towards that little person and you can't imagine being able to love another child that same way. Well, when you have the 2nd baby the love is just as great. But what I never imagined was the love I feel for watching the two of you love each other. Soren you run into the room when Maeta cries giving her a toy and saying, "here you go baby, it's okay." And Maeta you laugh so hard at Soren and can twist your head 180 degrees in order to keep your eyes on him at ALL times.
I pray that the two of you will always share a strong love for one another. I pray that you will encourage each other and keep the other accountable. I pray that you will laugh, forgive, and watch out for each other. Blessings to you my sweet babies!
5.) You make a video with your cousin earlier in the day which brought your auntie "Aami" to tears, which made your Nana jump in the car and drive to her college 1 1/2 hours away to pick her up so she can play at the party with you!
4.) You get your Nana and Papa's attention all night playing all sorts of fun games like, throwing balls, shooting water guns, and hitting animals in the head with a bopper.
3.) You get to avoid eating dinner because you say you are too busy watching for Chucky to come out on stage and sing.
2.) Your daddy is very competitive to earn you the most tickets out of anyone there.
1.) Your Nana will climb in all the toys with you. What other Nana's climb into toddler size buses just to make it look fun for her grandchildren?
Thanks dad for agreeing to spend your birthday at Chuck E Cheese. We had a great time and love you so much. Soren has been so excited to celebrate his Papa. You are wonderful!
The cousins came over today and Soren had a blast with them in his pool. I filled it up with warm water and the 3 of them swam for so long. Alicia and I got to sit on beach chairs in the sun and enjoy the laughter of our children. How wonderful!
Saturday night we had our 1st bonfire of the year and it was perfect. An absolutely beautiful night to enjoy conversation with our 2 year old around a fire. We also taught him how to make a Smore for the 1st time. He didn't really get into the messiness of a Smore, but loved each part of the Smore on its own.
We began our fire while the sun was still high...
...and continued it long after the stars came out. We just couldn't go inside!
We enjoyed a beautiful day on the River. Dustin got the day off of work so we decided to take advantage of our time together and bask in God's glorious Creation.
It was raining really hard during the hour drive to our secret little escape but minutes before we reached our destination the rain stopped and it became a perfect fishing day. It is amazing to me that we only have to drive an hour to a river tucked away in the hills. I felt like we were in Montana somewhere.
Soren loved his time exploring the banks. He kept asking where all the rocks were (last weekend he enjoyed throwing rocks into Lake Superior up in Lutsen)! There were a couple times that he found a rock and threw it right into the river where Dustin was fishing! Maybe that is why we didn't catch any fish!!!
Soren was the net boy. He carried the net and waited patiently while Dustin fished. One time Dustin got a fish on the line and Soren ran over to him with the net. He felt so important.
I have always loved watching Dustin fly fish. It is so calming and graceful.
We enjoyed a nice picnic and Maeta stayed awake the entire time, just watching the boys!
I hate to cook & I love to sew. But I want to get good at both of these things. Where do I begin? Today I went to Barnes and Noble to pick out a Cookbook. I looked online for the "good" ones out there but wanted to see them in person before buying one. I don't have a real cookbook. I have a few specialty cookbooks but not an every day one. I spent a long time looking through ones I thought for sure I would like before paging through them, but ended up feeling very over whelmed and frustrated. I saw a gray haired old lady looking at a cookbook and in all desperation asked her what her favorite cookbook was. She answered, "Well I have no idea, there are so many good ones." I said, "I need a very basic one. One that will teach me everything I need to know as a beginner. One that has meatloaf in it." She laughed instead of judged and pulled out an old Betty Crocker Cookbook. She said I couldn't go wrong with this one. It was perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. It had the basics: Chocolate Chip cookies, Meatloaf, Marinara Sauce, Split Pea Soup, etc... I bought it. I told Dustin it makes me very nervous having this but I warned him I am not going to expect too much from myself or it won't be fun. I am slowly going to teach myself how to cook!
I would love more suggestions on your favorite Cookbooks or recipes. I will take all the advice I can get. Please leave a comment with your favorites!!!
Now onto sewing, I love to do this and decided I need to do more! I want to figure out a good place in my house to set up shop, get my machine fixed, and get to work! Anyone have good sewing projects? First on my list is a Christmas tree skirt!
(I know this is a couple days late. We were traveling on her real half birthday!)
My darling little girl, you are already 1/2 a year old. I wonder where the time went and at the same time I can't remember life before you. You have brought Soren, daddy and me so much joy in these last 6 months. You are such a content and easy going baby. We love you so much!
Things you love at 6 months:
* SOREN, anything and everything about him.
* You put everything in your mouth.
* You want to sleep with us at night now, I am trying to decide if I should put an end to that or not (secretly I love cuddling with you and will probably choose to continue to give up sleep in order to snuggle).
* You will only nurse, you can't figure out a bottle at all.
* You hate the car.
* You love pears and sweet potatoes.
* You act full right away while eating rice cereal.
* You love teething cookies.
* You can't wait for your morning nap in your snowsuit.
* You love being sung to.
* You love playing with wipes or anything that crunches.
Naps: Usually 2 times a day for about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. Maybe a 3rd cat nap if in the car.
Night time sleep: You can't wait to go down around 7:30. You usually fall asleep while reading books with Soren. Or on your own in your crib. Lately you have been getting up after about 5 hrs. and wanting to come into bed with us. You then nurse on and off throughout the night.
Eating: Every 3 hours during the day. 1 morning fruit and 1 veggie at dinner. Sometimes rice cereal at night.
We had a fabulous mini vacation up to Lutsen this past weekend for good friends of ours Andrea and Dustin. We had such a blast with my high school crew and loved celebrating with the Linds as they begin their lives as husband and wife! Here is a little storybook of our weekend:
We picked Chelsea and Sangam up (they came home from TX for the wedding) and headed to Lutsen. My mom and dad kept Soren the first night and then brought him up to Lutsen with them the following day.
Sangam was so fun to travel with. He new all the stops he wanted to make along the way. It was such an enjoyable way to travel. We ended up making 7 stops!!! Here we are eating in Duluth and then stopping at Betty's pies!
We stayed in a Town home with my high school girlfriends. It was such a blast sharing life together again. Just like the old times! They were all so patient with our kids and even allowed us to have the master suite so we could have the King size bed (we had Soren and Maeta along with us). Here is one of the silly moments in the town home. Sangam had everyone doing splits and handstands!
The next day we woke up and went for a morning walk before heading over to the reception site to help decorate and put flowers together. Andrea was such a calm bride!
We then headed up to Grand Marais for lunch...
...before heading to the Dress rehearsal and groom's dinner. Chelsea decided to teach Soren that it is really fun to fly like and airplane. We have been doing airplane rides ever since. Thanks Chels!!!!!
Saturday morning we got up and started getting ready for the big day...
Andrea was a gorgeous bride. She was so excited to marry her man and so calm.
It was such a beautiful place to get married!
We six girls have been great friends since 8th grade. We have been through a lot together and it was so much fun to all stand together as one of us got married.
The dance was so much fun...
The next morning Dustin and I were headed down to the pool by 8 am...
Soren loved throwing rocks into Lake Superior with Papa and daddy all weekend.
Thanks Andrea and Dustin for including us in your wedding. We had such a great time and have been talking about wanting to do it again with you all next year! What do you say?
